DESCRIPTION

Uvarov 200 is a commemorative website dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Count Aleksey Uvarov, the founder of the Imperial Russian Archaeological Society. The site guides visitors through different stages of his life, starting from his adolescence and spanning through his achievements, family life, and involvement in the establishment of the museum. The website is rich with visual content, including portraits, museum photos, expedition documents, and personal artifacts that all contribute to telling Uvarov’s story.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Localized content: Available only in the Russian language.

  • First collaborative project: This was my first experience working in a team with tight deadlines and split responsibilities, making it a great learning opportunity.

EXPERIENCE NOTE

This project was particularly challenging due to the tight deadline of about one month. Being my first team project, I found the coordination and constant back-and-forth a new experience. We had ambitious goals from the start, which in hindsight were too large for the given timeframe. Nevertheless, I did my best to optimize the site’s performance and responsiveness, especially considering the large number of images involved.

Also, a rough but functional mobile version was created, which made me understand the complexities of balancing design and performance on different devices. Despite not achieving everything we set out to do, I am proud of the final result and the lessons learned along the way.
